Premieres Tchaikovsky and Rodgers were early favourite composers of mine, and they still are!
Reviews
Recordings My favourite work of Tchaikovsky is the Suite No.3 in G major, Opus 55. The falling seventh found in the
Picture Gallery opening theme of the first movement inspired the theme in my little tribute to him. I have tried to make
About the piece as close to Tchaikovsky as possible, both in harmony and phrasing.

Sponsorship When I first started writing, new "highbrow" music was not considered worth putting on paper unless it
Instrument Setup was fairly incomprehensible. A friend criticised my early efforts, saying there were "too many overtones
Links of Richard Rodgers". We now live in a time when I might not be so severely criticised. My tribute to
Subscribe Rodgers is not as intentionally derivative as the other tribute is, but more an attempt to write a popular
Contact song reminiscent of the great American musicals written fifty or more years ago.

Percy Grainger considered the saxophone to be the instrument closest to the human voice. People

Two Romantic Tributes was originally commissioned by the saxophonist Jason Xanthoudakis in 2005.
The symphonic wind band version was commissioned by Wilderness School through band director
Daryl Pope later that year. My grateful thanks to Jason, Darryl, and Wilderness School.
